The Most Devastating Aspect of Christ's Suffering.

The Most Devastating Aspect of Christ's Suffering.

Hello One Little Candle family,

Easter is almost here! As we walk through Holy Week, I wanted to share some heartfelt reflections from our latest episode, "Easter Reflections. The True Agony of the Cross" Whether you’re a longtime listener or just discovered us, I hope this message finds you well and ready to be inspired.

More Than Suffering: The Deeper Pain of the Cross

In this episode, I delve into something we often overlook about Jesus’ crucifixion. The physical pain—the flogging, the thorns, the nails—was unimaginable, but it wasn’t the worst part. What truly broke Jesus’ heart was the spiritual agony: bearing the full weight of all humanity’s sin and experiencing separation from His Father. That moment, when Jesus cried, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Mark 15:34) is a powerful reminder of how serious our sin is—and how deep God’s love runs.

Why Does This Matter Today?

It’s easy to focus on Easter eggs and chocolate, but as I encourage in the episode, let’s remember the real reason we celebrate. Jesus chose to carry the burden of our sin so we wouldn’t be separated from God. That’s a gift beyond measure, and something worth thanking God for every single day.

A Challenge for Our Hearts

This Easter, I invite you to really ponder the gravity of our sin and the price Jesus paid. The more we understand what we’ve been forgiven for, the brighter our light shines in the world. Let’s let gratitude for God’s grace shape our hearts and lives.

One Little Candle, Many Bright Lights

Even small acts inspired by faith can dispel darkness. Let your gratitude and love for God spark kindness and hope around you. And if you’re spending time with family, maybe slip a Bible verse into those Easter baskets or have a conversation about why we really celebrate.

Song of the Week

We’re highlighting “In Christ Alone” (Travis Cottrell’s version) as our song for Easter. Its lyrics beautifully capture the meaning of Christ’s sacrifice and victory. Listen to it [here – YouTube link in the show notes].
